Why Are the Huskies So Bad?

You could say maybe its the (-121 ) yards lost rushing, or maybe its the average (-1 yard) gained on punt returns, zero sacks on defense, opponents are 68% on third-down conversions against the Huskies. Huskies average only (2.8) yards a carry, and average 105 yards a game while giving up 225 yards a game rushing. The Huskies we know have had a tough schedule out the gate with Oregon, BYU, and Oklahoma, but watching this years 2008 team is starting to be a joke. Offensive Coordinator Tim Lappano so far this year has made this offense look like a "high school, predictably slow developing offense." Quarterback Jake Locker has to much talent ,and Lappano is slowing him down more than his opponents. Locker must be able to create by either running the option or rolling out. Made running plays for Jake Locker and his teammates has not worked in these first three games. Locker is averaging in the first three games about (50) yards rushing, and (153 ) yards passing while completing about (53%) of his passes. This whole Huskies football program rides mostly on the shoulders of Jake Locker. These next four games Stanford, at Arizona, Oregon State, and the Fighting Irish are games the Huskies could, and should win.

Coach Willingham, Coach Lappano, and defensive coordinator Coach Ed Donatells' jobs are on line with these next four game. This coaching staff, and team, cannot afford to just split these next four games 3-4 or 4-4, nothing less. It all starts against Stanford by running the football, using your tight-ends, and using Jake Locker the right way, and getting positive yards on punt returns. The Husky defense has to try and put pressure (Sacks) on the quarterback, get off the field on third downs, and slow down their opponents running game. If the Huskies lose these next four games look for all the Husky coaches at the airport with one-way tickets, Jake (Isiah Stanback) Locker maybe playing wide-reciever, or running-back, and Coach Lane Kippen talk coming to Mountlake!
